Choosing Your Gender

In UO Dark Ages, gender mainly affects your character's appearance, paperdoll, clothing options, and a few special creatures. Male and female characters have the same stats, skills, combat ability, crafting ability, and overall progression.

Female characters have access to the largest variety of appearance options. They may wear nearly all standard armor and clothing, plus several female-only outfits.
Male characters may wear all normal armor and clothing, but cannot wear:
Dresses
Skirts

A character of the opposite gender may still own one of these creatures if another player tames it first, but they cannot ride or tame it themselves.
Other Minor Differences

A few monsters and events react differently to gender.
Semidar is known to deal additional damage to male characters.
Some NPC dialogue and holiday events may occasionally have different text depending on your gender.
These differences are minor and do not significantly affect gameplay.
Which Gender Should You Choose?
File:Choose gender final.jpg
Choose whichever appearance and clothing style you prefer.
Choose Male if you want the traditional warrior or adventurer look, or if you want to ride a Ki-Rin.
Choose Female if you want more clothing options or the ability to ride a Unicorn.
For most players, the decision is almost entirely cosmetic.
