Stats

In UO Dark Ages, every character has three primary stats that define their physical and mental capabilities. These stats affect everything from how hard you hit in combat to how much mana you have for spells and how fast you can act.

The Character Status window shown to the right displays all of your character's vital information. Open it at any time by pressing C in game or clicking the paperdoll icon.

The Three Primary Stats

Strength (STR)

Strength determines your physical power and endurance.

  • Increases your Hit Points (HP) — how much damage you can take before dying
  • Increases the damage you deal with melee weapons
  • Increases how much weight you can carry
  • Required for wearing heavier armor types such as plate

Formula: Hit Points = 50 + (Strength / 2)

Dexterity (DEX)

Dexterity determines your speed and agility.

  • Increases your Stamina — used for running and certain actions
  • Increases your swing speed with weapons — higher dex means you attack faster
  • Affects how quickly your stamina regenerates

Formula: Stamina = Dexterity

Intelligence (INT)

Intelligence determines your mental capacity and magical power.

  • Increases your Mana — the resource used for casting spells
  • Higher intelligence means more spells before running out of mana
  • Affects mana regeneration rate when combined with the Meditation skill

Formula: Mana = Intelligence

Derived Stats

These values are calculated automatically from your primary stats, skills and equipment. They are displayed in the Character Status window alongside your primary stats.

Hit Points (HP)

How much damage you can take before dying. When HP reaches zero you die and become a ghost. HP regenerates slowly over time or can be restored with bandages, potions or healing spells.

Stamina

Used when running, attacking and performing physical actions. When stamina reaches zero you slow to a walk and your attack speed is reduced. Stamina regenerates over time and can be restored with certain potions and the Refreshment spell.

Mana

Consumed when casting spells or using special abilities. When mana reaches zero you cannot cast spells until it regenerates. Mana regenerates passively and is improved by the Meditation skill.

Followers

Shows how many tamed creatures you currently have following you versus your maximum allowed followers. Displayed as current/max — for example 3/5 means you have 3 followers and can have up to 5. Your maximum followers is determined by your Animal Taming and Animal Lore skills.

Gold

The amount of gold currently in your backpack. Gold is the primary currency of Britannia and is used for all player trading and vendor purchases.

Weight

Your current carried weight versus your maximum carry weight. Displayed as current/max. If you exceed your maximum weight you will be unable to move. Maximum weight is determined by your Strength — higher Strength allows you to carry more.

Armor Rating

The total physical damage reduction provided by your equipped armor. Higher armor rating reduces the damage you take from physical attacks.

Luck

A hidden modifier that influences random loot quality. Higher luck increases the chance of finding better items on monsters and in treasure chests. Luck is granted by certain equipment and items.

Damage

Your base weapon damage range displayed as minimum and maximum — for example 5-15. This is affected by your weapon, your Strength and your weapon skill such as Swordsmanship or Tactics.

Resist Stats

Your character has resistances to different damage types:

  • Physical Resist — reduces physical weapon damage
  • Fire Resist — reduces fire damage from spells and creatures
  • Cold Resist — reduces cold damage
  • Poison Resist — reduces poison damage and poison duration
  • Energy Resist — reduces energy damage from spells

Resistances are provided by your equipped armor and can be enhanced with certain crafted or magical items.

Stat Cap

Every character has a total stat cap of 225. This means the combined total of your Strength, Dexterity and Intelligence cannot exceed 225. Individual stat caps are:

Stat Minimum Maximum
Strength 10 125
Dexterity 10 125
Intelligence 10 125
Total 225

Raising Stats

Stats increase automatically as you use your skills — you do not manually spend points:

  • Using combat skills raises Strength and Dexterity
  • Using magic skills raises Intelligence
  • Using crafting skills can raise Strength or Dexterity

Stats can also be boosted by:

  • Equipped armor and jewelry with stat bonuses
  • Potions and consumables
  • Buff spells from yourself or other players

Tips

  • Warrior and melee builds — prioritize Strength for HP and damage, Dexterity for faster swings
  • Mage and caster builds — prioritize Intelligence for maximum mana
  • Hybrid builds — balance based on your primary skills
  • Starting stats are just a foundation — all stats can be trained over time
